Louis Oosthuizen has announced his departure from LIV Golf and will compete exclusively on the DP World Tour starting in 2027.
This decision marks a significant shift in professional golf amid financial struggles within LIV Golf, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States in September after losing backing from the Public Investment Fund.

Louis Oosthuizen's move signals a new chapter in his career as he transitions from the breakaway circuit, where he served as captain of the Southern Guards team. He expressed that this decision was one of the hardest he has faced, citing the challenge of leaving his team behind.

Reflecting on his past, Oosthuizen stated, "Five years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life by moving away from traditional golf." He emphasized his desire to control his competitive schedule moving forward, noting that he believes he has more to offer in the sport.

In the wake of LIV Golf's financial turmoil, other prominent players, including Jon Rahm, have reached separation agreements to forfeit money owed to them by the league. DP World Tour CEO Guy Kinnings has made it clear that players continuing with LIV will not receive membership privileges next season.

Oosthuizen's commitment to the DP World Tour represents a return to a more traditional competitive landscape in golf, as he aims to sharpen his game and remain competitive in the years to come.
